Forget there is another world...
| For a romantic retreat into another era, step back in time to the age of steamships in the inland water port of Jefferson, Texas.
Claiborne House was built as a single family home between 1862 and 1866. It was purchased by Capt. V. H. Claiborne in 1871. A modified Greek Revival design with a front gabled roof, The Claiborne House features two 40 foot porches on each side. Original moldings, heart pine floors and thirteen-foot ceilings give the house its gracious character. There are six graciously-sized guestrooms, four in the main house and two in the new Carriage House. A Touch of Class Day Spa located on the grounds completes this romantic retreat complex.

| Tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished common rooms afford pleasant places to sit and visit as one might have done a century ago when Captain & Mrs. Claiborne entertained. A full Southern gourmet breakfast is served with crystal and china in the dining room at The Claiborne House. A typical breakfast starts with blackberry soup followed by Spanish baked eggs, roasted potatoes, sausage, fresh fruit, angel biscuits and cinnamon bites. Gourmet coffee and juice are also served. |
